Dashboard Best Practices

Regular Reviews

  • Weekly - Check action progress and blockers
  • Monthly - Review objective health and OKRs
  • Quarterly - Comprehensive plan review and reporting

Acting on Insights

When dashboards show issues:

  1. Red/Off Track Items - Investigate immediately, adjust plans or resources
  2. At Risk Items - Create action plan, may need intervention
  3. Overdue Actions - Reassign, reprioritize, or cancel if no longer relevant

Indicators

Some plans include custom indicators - metrics tracked over time:

  • Creating Indicators - Define what you want to track
  • Recording Values - Enter periodic measurements
  • Viewing Trends - See how indicators change over time

Indicators are useful for metrics not tied to specific objectives, like:

  • Budget utilization
  • Staff satisfaction scores
  • External benchmarks
