Steer Overview

The Steer module is your organization’s command center for monitoring strategic performance. While the Act module focuses on executing individual actions, Steer gives you a bird’s-eye view across all plans and committees — tracking KPIs, visualizing action hierarchies, and measuring progress toward strategic goals.

Steer vs. Act

These two modules serve complementary but distinct purposes:

The Two Tabs

When you open the Steer module, you’ll see two tabs:

The Dashboard tab provides an action-centric view with a Kanban board showing all actions across your plans and committees. Use it to:

  • View actions organized by status (Pending, In Progress, Blocked, Completed)
  • Drag and drop actions between status columns
  • Filter by plan, committee, assignee, or archive status
  • Create new actions directly
  • Switch between Kanban, table, and calendar views

See Views for details on each view.

Filtering

The Steer module includes a comprehensive filter bar available across all views:

FilterDescription
AssigneeFilter by assigned user (your name appears first)
PlanFilter by source plan (multi-select)
CommitteeFilter by originating committee (multi-select)
Archive StatusShow active only, archived only, or all actions
SearchReal-time keyword search on titles and descriptions

Active filters display a count badge, and a Clear All button resets everything at once.

Action Details

Click any action in the Steer module to open the action details modal. This provides a complete view of the action including:

  • Core info — Title, description, status, priority, completion percentage, due date, assigned user
  • Links — Connected objectives, key results, mandates, and source plan/committee
  • Comments — Discussion thread for progress updates
  • History — Creation date, status changes, and modification timeline

The Strategic Monitoring Cycle

Steer completes the four-module strategic management cycle:

  1. Plan — Define strategic orientations, objectives, and actions
  2. Organize — Create committees, schedule meetings, make decisions
  3. Act — Execute actions, prepare and run meetings
  4. Steer — Monitor progress, track KPIs, assess performance

Next Steps

  • Actions Tree — Hierarchical view of actions across plans
  • KPI Dashboard — Indicator tracking and performance metrics
  • Views — Kanban, table, and calendar views for actions
